"Eyebombing is the act of setting googly eyes on inanimate things in the public space.

Ultimately the goal is to humanize the streets, and bring sunshine to people passing by."

Being a tennis player, i usually keep up with the famous athletes scheduales. I
did not know Federer was on vacation recently though. I wish i was as good as
him. He says he is old and many people say its time for him to retire, but why
should he? He had a rough year this year, losing four out of five matches
including Wimbledon and French Open but he may just have had an off year.

I also learned that a tournament called the Davis Cup exists
which i never knew! lol

A few weeks ago, in a solar system 600 light years away, an earth like planet was first discovered. Kepler 22-b of the Kepler system(scientists are so original with their names), is 2.4 times larger than earth with a very similar climate. Water and land exist on Kepler 22-b and it is determined to orbit its sun, which is very much alike our own, in the "habitable zone" which means that there is a good chance life exists here.

This article is talking about how organic farms are growing tremendously now that American's are purchasing more organic foods. Although organic farming is better for the soil, aquifers are drying up so it is very difficult for farmers to grow crops. People have to be very careful when purchasing foods that say organic on the label. Some farmers are growing the same crop over and over which is bad for the soil. Farmers are designing new laws to better regualate organic farming. Farmers are also blaming recent building of hotels, etc. of taking up to much water. I did not realize how popular organic foods were and it was very interesting to learn about the problems that arouse because of the popularity of these foods.

This article was about comet Lovejoy being pulled into the sun's corona and surviving the encounter. The comet was close enough in range of the sun that it should have not come out of the corona in one piece, but it did. Scientists are studying how the comet reacted to the sun's magnetic field, its atmosphere, and its corona to find out how this could have happened. The comet is also being monitored to see if it will start to fragment after leaving the sun's corona.

Wu Weiping, of China, was due to have a second baby. China would not allow it because of their strict 1-baby per family law, but Wu wanted the baby. If she had the baby she would be forced to pay a lot of money or not pay the money but have her cost of living increase, for example when that child went to kindergarten she would have to pay over 2x as much as normal parents would. Wu ran away to Shanghi to have the baby and later her husband came with her. There are a few others in China who have also had 2 babies, and people do not like being limited to only one baby.
Also, a man said that if this continues (only allowing 1 baby per family,) then China would not be able to keep up production because pretty much everything comes from China. There were so many people have babies in the 60's that they could do all this manufacturing, but now with the baby limit, China's population will decrease and cause problems. I thought this was interesting because while people have basically the same rights in China as we do here, they cannot have more than one baby. I think it's unfair if people want more babies.

This is an old, but still relevant, article that attempts to debunk the rumor about the so-called 2012 doomsday prophecy. Some believe that the day predicted by the Mayans, 12-21-12, correlates with the collision of a planet, Planet X, with Earth, which will supposedly cause masssive disasters leading to the end of human existence. This article shows how no scientific discoveries have supported the existnce of Planet X, meaning there will be no collision of planets come 2012, unless, as the article states at the end, there is a large government conspiracy going on.

This article is about some of the 40,000 laws that came in to effect with the New Year. For example, Alabama is instituting one of the nation’s toughest immigration laws. This law requires any employer that does business with any government organization to use a system called E-Verify to check if person they want to hire is in the country legally.

The information in this article doesn't directly affect us because it doesn't describe any laws that were made in Michigan but it is still interesting to see what other states are making laws about.

http://abcnews.go.com/US/fires-set-years-eve-la-serial-arson-attacks/story?id=15268683

My article was about how there have been multiple arson fires around the Las Angelas area. The LAPD doesn't know if the fires have been aet by one person or multiple people. The Las Angelas Police Department has set up as special team that includes air support and survelliance cameras to help and try to catch the aronist. The LAPD suspets that the arosonist drives a white and tan Lexus ES300 from around the 1990's. The suspect the owner of this car because the car has been spotted at multiple fires. There is also a reward of 60,000 dollars for any information on the arsonist for the fires. The LAPD has sais that luckily no one has been hurt during these fires. The LAPD links the cases because the way the fires has been set is similar. The fires have been set by lighting cars on fires. I think that this is scarey because there is someone out there that is trying to hurt people.

this article is about the second massive black bird death after the new year, with 5,000 birds dead this year. It was previously speculated that last year's death was due to the fireworks of the calibration scaring them off, but they didn't think that was the case for this year.
Evidently the USDA killed them off for the farmers, although the media is saying it is "a sign of the apocalypse of 2012".

The article I read was, "Marlette to Honor Coach at Ceremony". The article was in The Times Herald, and was written by Jim Whymer. The Article is about two Marlette men.

One of the Marlette men Terry Reid ,73, has lived in Marlette for forty years. He was hired to coach Marlette's boys varsity basketball team and is still coaching it. He has also coaches girls varsity basketball, middle school basketball and basketball and football. Terry Reid also taught in the classroom and was the athletic director. He has taught his players many life lessons along with how to play sports. Today when his previous players come back to town, Reid's house is one of the first places they stop. His previous players often also invite them to their weddings and are still in contact with him. Reid is very supportive and active in the community of Marlette. His dog Raider, is an example of his school spirit. On December 28, 2011, the day Marlette girls and boys varsity basketball teams play Kingston, the gym is going to be dedicated to coach Reid. The new scoreboard will be dedicated to Kyle Hall, Reid's grandson, who was killed this past July.

On July 16, 2011 Kyle Hall, 19, was killed in a car accident on M-53. Kyle was a caring person that always wanted to help people. When Kyle was younger he told his brother that he wanted to be a pastor because he like helping people. Besides being caring and a supporter of Marlette he played on the Marlette football, golf, basketball, and track teams. Kyle was a 6-foot-5 center that shared a love for basketball with his grandpa. His plans were to go to Alma college to basketball. It was hard for the people of Marlette to accept Kyle was dead but they were all very supportive of the Hall family. At Kyle's funeral relatives, friends, teammates, athletes and coaches from opposing schools, and even the coaches from Alma came to the packed funeral ceremony in the high school gym to respect to Kyle. On December 28, 2011 a new scoreboard will be dedicated to Kyle along with the gym to his grandfather.

This article is about Eminem's mom joining together with Sir K, a rapper, and a few other people to create a message/video about bullying. The video is called "Nobody likes a bully" By making this video it is suppose to bring more attention to the nation wide issue of bullying. The people who made this video were all victims of bullying and some of both bullying and violence and they decided that they needed to do something about it. They also are setting up a program to travel to schools in Michigan and have assemblies on bullying.
